The Dream
We dream of a day when girls will understand that their body is not the only way they can make an impact. A day when mothers will feel good enough about their own bodies to spare their daughters from years of nagging, negative self talk, and diets.
We dream of a day when eating disorders begin to decline for the first time in decades, when women over the age of thirty stop believing they must go under the knife in the name of youth and beauty, and when anti-depressants are no longer the country’s #1 prescribed medication.
We dream of girls and women finding and chasing their God-given dreams, not to prove something to the world, but because they know without question it’s what they were created for.
We dream of families growing closer together; of fathers understanding how much their daughters need them, and wives letting their husbands delight in their bodies without shame, fear or embarrassment.
We know that amazing things can happen when silent pain begins going public in a positive, healing way, and so we dream of that silence being broken.
It’s starting to happen…
What began as a dream is beginning to turn into reality:
Our website has grown to provide a wide variety of online resources and downloadable tools for you to use in your own efforts to impact the culture...and your own heart.
Local and national events featuring True Campaign speakers have furthered awareness of disordered eating, body image and identity issues.
Funds are beginning to be raised to promote awareness and prevention of eating and body image issues through The Remuda Foundation and FINDINGbalance – True’s non-profit partners.
Plus, we’re starting to hear feedback from many of you who have been impacted:

See, a campaign is about pulling people together; assembling an army to spread a message and change a culture. It requires time, talent and treasure, pooled together by everyday people who want to be a part of something bigger than themselves.
That’s where you come in.
true:shift
One of the most exciting and practical ways you can make an impact through the True Campaign is the true:shift project, a partnership between Food for the Hungry and the True Campaign. It’s an effort to create a practical way for all of us to make a difference, one step – or “shift” – at a time. This means choosing to “shift” $32 a month from something appearance oriented, toward feeding a hungry child. With each sponsorship received, Food for the Hungry will make a small donation back to True. As a bonus, you’ll be able to begin telling a story of what it means to you to intentionally buck the appearance-oriented culture we live in and invest in another one. Learn more about the project.
Be a Part of It!
As we grow, we are continually identifying new ways to pull you into our work.
For example, right now we’re putting together a kit that will empower you to become a “True Campaigner” in your own area, to help spread the word about not only the campaign but the message of truth we are trying to promote. You will be able to buy this kit in our online store very soon.
We are also developing a structure to allow more of you to get involved in various practical ways, utilizing your gifts, talents and passion for the cause.
In order for these things to happen, however, we also need your financial involvement.
The True Campaign is a non-profit effort and operates on the basis of charitable giving. Your financial contributions are a critical part of us being able to realize the dreams we’ve laid out on this page.
